Year Opened. 2009. Calgary Transit Oliver Bowen Maintenance Facility or OBMF is an LRV repair shop, bus repair shop, and LRV storage facility. It holds about 120 LRVs, as well as some retired buses. Retiring LRVs are decommissioned and scrapped from OBMF. It was opened in 2009, and is located on the Blue Line before McKnight - Westwinds station.. capital cost. This Phase 2 extension provides approximately 5,330 square metres of additional building space on the east side of the existing building, and makes provision for construction of four additional rail tracks to provide storage and running repair maintenance for 48 light rail vehicles. Constructed along with the McKnight-Westwinds station, is the Oliver Bowen Maintenance Facility, located just South of the station. This facility is not only used for the maintenance of the fleet, but also has storage space for another 65 LRVs (light rail vehicles). This helps in the storage of the 22 additional LRVs that are planned to be.. The Oliver Bowen LRV Maintenance Facility provides additional capacity for LRV maintenance and operations and satisfy current and future fleet requirements. We designed the site and building to initially provide capacity for 60 cars, with flexibility to expand to 108 cars in the future. The building consists of a vehicle maintenance run-through.
