At the eastern end of the reserve the river plunges over a spectacular waterfall into a dark pool below, known as the "witches pool" from which the reserve gets it name. The nearest town is Talgarth and the.. Pwll-Y-Wrach is a popular nature reserve comprising of 8.5 hectares of ancient woodland on the banks of the River Ennig. Stunning views of wild flowers can be seen in springtime including wood anemones, lesser celandines and bluebells. The reserve is accessible by a surfaced easy access path, suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs taking you.

In late spring bluebells fleck the woodland floor with shimmering blue and the white flowers of wild garlic give the air a pungent smell..
